April - June

For those looking for a luxurious catered hideaway amid breathtaking natural beauty we have the perfect solution. For the months of April and May we will be renting out the whole of Kotelnikovskiy Hot Springs resort on Lake Baikal’s western shore. At any one time we will only accept one booking from one group – your group! This means you will have this amazing place and all its staff and facilities exclusively at your disposal.

Kotelnikovskiy is Baikal’s most luxurious and most beautifully situated hot springs resorts. Its comfortable and stylishly appointed rooms are unrivalled by those at any other hot springs on the lake. Behind the resort, taiga forest stretches up into the foothills of towering mountains of the Baikal Range. In front of it, Baikal’s famous clear ice fields stretch as far as the eye can see. And, as this is northern Baikal, the lake still retains the perfect transparency of its ice for which it is famous.

Groups visiting in May will get to witness one of Baikal’s most spectacular events – the breaking up of the ice.

Guests will be catered to by a team of professionals – regular hotel staff plus a catering team, animation team, on site doctor and Emercom official. The animation team will organise voluntary fitness activities and games every day while the Emercom official will organise treks, climbing, fishing and other sporting activities. You will have unlimited access to all the resorts’s facilities. These include an outdoor hot springs swimming pool, a gym, children’s playground, table tennis, billiards, conference hall, sauna, internet and fishing trips on the lake and on the River Kurkula. Also included in the price are corona virus testing in Ulan-Ude, two nights in Ulan-Ude’s best hotel, tours to the city’s most iconic sites and private helicopter transfer from to Kotelnikovskiy and back.

At additional cost helicopter trips can be organised to other parts of the lake. A great place to visit at this time are the Ushkani Islands, where sightings of newborn white Baikal seals are almost guaranteed. All staff at the resort will have tested negative for coronavirus.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Ulan-Ude

Meet at the airport of Ulan Ude, capital of Buryatia, Russia’s largest Buddhist province. Check into the 5* Murgen Bater Hotel. Dinner of Mongolian and Buryat specialities.

Day 2: Coronavirus test and Buddhist datsan

After breakfast we go to the hospital to get tested for coronavirus. Afterwards we visit Buryat Buddhism’s holiest site, the Ivolginskiy datsan. Trip to Buryatian Buddhism’s holiest site: the Ivolginskiy Datsan. Here we will meet the monks and gain access to the most sacred parts of their datsan, those to which even local indigenous Buryat buddhists are forbidden. Here we will meet Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov who some claim is a meditating monk and others say is a religious relic. Although he died aged 75 in 1927, his body never decayed. The monks (and even on occasion Vladimir Putin!) Treat him as a living person, saying that he has merely been meditating in a nirvana-like state for the last 90 years.

Overnight in 5* Murgen Bater hotel.

Day 3: Fly to the resort

After receiving our coronavirus test results we board our private helicopter to take us to Kotelnikovskiy Hot Springs Resort. The resort is located right on the lake shore and backed by dense taiga forest and mountains of the Baikal Range. In this truly spectacular spot you will spend the rest of your trip with the whole resort reserved just for you.

Day 4 & other days: Live in the resort

The resort’s entire staff and facilities will be solely at your disposal. We will have a special catering team flown in with you from Irkutsk who will also be there throughout your stay. Every day you have unlimited internet access, as well as access to the gym, sauna, conference hall, children’s play area, restaurant, bar, barbecue, billiard room, table tennis, skis and more. Fishing trips on the lake and to the nearby River Kurkula can be organised whenever you want at no extra cost.

Final Day: Return to Irkutsk

Transfer in private helicopter to Irkutsk. Transfer to the airport or to a hotel of your choice.
