Fishing on Lake Baikal

The crystal clarity of the waters in northern Lake Baikal never fails to amaze. Here you can still find the world-class fishing and natural beauty for which the lake is famous. Amazingly, guests can expect to catch pike up to 1.7 metres long and weighing up to 15kg. Perch, trout and lenok are also easy to catch. We can even get permits for the rare endemic Froliha char.

We organise fishing trips on Baikal itself, on nearby rivers and on alpine lakes. However, it is these alpine lakes that are the most rewarding for rare and endemic species. With our decades of local knowledge and experience we can always recommend the best spots for your requirements. In addition, our network of local contacts enables us to get permits to fish even the most restricted areas. Naturally we can organise trips to suit any budget. Our guests can live in log cabins and basic tents on their adventures or can

choose a more luxurious and catered environment. Whatever your expectations, northern Lake Baikal is bound to exceed them. Its nearby rivers and mountains will, without doubt, provide you with with an experience that few outsiders have had.

Many of our set itineraries include a bit of fishing while others are dedicated fishing trips. We are also happy to create tailored trips based on your own goals. When getting in touch please therefore tell us which type of fish you are most interested in. We will then recommend the most appropriate places and times of year based on your own requirements.

Likewise, if you would like to shoot a film featuring fish, we know the best times and places. As mentioned elsewhere, we can get permission in October to film the Baikal omul breeding area, where up to 3 million fish come to reproduce.
